New Days = Higher Markets

Looks like the economy is changing for the better!  Reports are stating higher numbers for the S&P 500 index.  Questions about the S&P - let me explain.  The S&P 500 gives the prices of 500 large-cap common stocks actively traded in the United States.  The stocks included are large publicly held companies that trade on either on the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.  Some names you will recognize – Amazon, AT&T, Best Buy, Coca-Cola, and Fed-Ex (500 total – I’m not listing them all.)  Today this index is up 11 points.
I’m not talking about a glitz.  We are seeing the highest numbers since July and the NASDAQ has closed in the “green” for the fourth straight season.  This information makes me extremely optimistic about the future.  I am so tired of this slump and I am ready for America to take back the world economy.

We still have a long journey ahead of us.  My theory – we hit a speed bump and got a flat tire.  Right now we are driving on a spare and can’t move forward at full throttle.  We still need a full size tire and Pep Boys is nowhere near our current location.  BUT – we are moving forward!!!
I know we are all still struggling but try to stay positive.  I can finally see a light at the end of this tunnel.  If you squint you might be able to see the same light.

PLEASE feel free to post comments.  Enjoy your day, week, and weekend.

Are people starting to feel more comfortable when spending money?

I know what you’re thinking.  “What is she talking about?  We are still stuck in a terrible economy.”  Well… I believe that we are on our way out of this recession.  Please don’t misunderstand this statement.  We ARE still in a rut but I have great expectations for 2012.  My opinion is backed by data straight from the real estate industry.

According to a study done by the National Association of Realtors®, November pending home sales reached the highest level in the past 19 months.  That’s fantastic news!!!  Buyers are starting to feel more comfortable spending and purchasing long-term investments.  What’s not to feel comfortable about?  Everything is on SALE.  Home sale prices and mortgage rates are so low; people who are qualified to buy would be silly to pass up this opportunity.  I get it – it’s scary when we can’t predict the future but try not to miss out on this buyers’ market.
It will be interesting to see what 2012 brings to the table.  It’s an election year and I think everyone is on edge to see what happens in November.  President Obama has been campaigning for the past 4 years, will he make office again?  With this question comes another – are people waiting until after the election to make major decisions?  I know where I stand with this answer, where do you stand?  Are you ready to take advantage of this market or will you continue to wait?

If you have any questions related to November real estate numbers or any general real estate questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I am here to help you with all of your real estate related needs.

PLEASE feel free to post comments.
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, and Positive NEW YEAR!!!

Look Up & Breathe

Not getting what you want or what your heart desires is always tough to stomach.  Emotionally draining does not begin to describe the feeling.  Some say “if it’s not working, it’s not meant to be” but what if it does work.  Unfortunately, there’s the “what if” question that we need to avoid.

In the end we have to enjoy what we were given.  Take the memories and hold them close to our hearts.  The smallest piece of something fantastic is better than living your life without the experience.

Allow yourself to think about the memories.  If you start to get caught/choked up remember to look up and breathe.  Walking away might be the only option but never close the door and never forget the natural high.  Only time will tell the future so take today without regrets and enter tomorrow with a positive attitude.

Ways the world can surprise us.

We go through life with constant questions.  General questions yes but also philosophical questions.  We question our lives, our actions, our words.  What we do or what we should do or should have done to try and plan for a specific outcome.  Sometimes we are satisfied, happy and high on life, yet other times we are depressed which lead to a thousand more questions.

Planning a vacation, becoming successful, living in a certain area, association ourselves with certain people are all scenarios we can control.  BUT… when it comes to life we will never have a foolproof plan.  Our best option is to let go and have the world surprise us.  The universe has ways to make an instant change that can either pull us out of a depression or make us question our actions.  Either way, enjoy the roller coaster.

Hurricane Irene – A blessing in disguise.

I know what you’re thinking – what is this girl talking about?  How could a natural disaster turn out to be a good thing?  Well… I was extremely fortunate to not lose power or have damage to my home and property.  The downfall, I was stuck inside but this is why Irene was a blessing in disguise.

Saturday the rain and wind started.  My plans were to go to a house warming party but plans changed and I was homebound.  Being forced to stay in obligated me to update my inbound marketing pieces and clean out my computer, closet and draws.

Sunday started out dreary but turned out to be a really nice day.  Again I was homebound because my street turned into a river but I was able to go outside and enjoy the weather.  My desire to be outside mad me trim back the dead flowers and clean up the yard.

Today, Monday, it’s like the storm never happened.  The weather is beautiful, the sun is shining, and… I can see my street.  But… here’s how this Monday stands differently from other Mondays.  I am extremely ready for this week.  If Irene never existed my closet would be a mess, my computer would be slow, and my internet marketing would be slim to none.

Yes… Irene caused damage to other homes and I am extremely sorry if some suffered from her heavy winds and rain.  I am sorry if you were not fortunate enough to have power or if you experienced property damage.  Being one of the lucky ones I was able to seek the positive out of this situation.  Maybe you also saw the good Irene brought to your home.  Think about it, being forced to stay inside maybe brought your family together.  Power or no power when you are stuck in a location you are forced to get along.

Irene was a natural disaster and I hope everyone is still standing.  The materialistic aspects of our lives never matter when it comes down to life and death situation.  I wish everyone well and can only hope you get back on your feet and move towards an outstanding Labor Day weekend.

Here’s to the last week of summer – get ready for unbelievably beautiful weather.
